Saturday Science Academy search for Science Fair judges
Alcorn State University’s Saturday Science Academy is seeking assistance for their 15th Annual Science and Engineering Fair and Competition.
The program is looking for volunteers to serve as judges at the event Saturday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m. in the E. E. Simmons Gymnasium (Old Gym). Fifth through ninth grade students who are enrolled in the Saturday Science Academy program will display and present their discoveries from science and mathematics experiments they performed independently.
Mary Trimble, director of the Saturday Science Academy, spoke on how the event will prepare the participants for bigger science fairs in the future.
“The science fair will be the foundation event for those students who will go on to compete in the local, regional and sate competitions,” said Trimble.
Trimble said that the judges’ input would be important for helping the students soar to the next level in science and mathematics.
“You can be assured that your input as an evaluator will encourage these young students as they excel at each level. If you were able to participate as a judge last year, we welcome you back. If this will be your first experience as a judge, we encourage you to make the commitment.”
