Alcornites hope that Homecoming 2016 is the “Greatest of All Time”
Alcorn State University students, faculty, staff and alumni are expecting Homecoming 2016 to be one for the record books.
Homecoming 2016 festivities will kickoff Sunday, Oct. 9 in the Oakland Memorial Chapel with the Joyful Noise Gospel Concert from 5 to 7 p.m. Concertgoers can make their way to the Amenities Parking Lot for the Late Night Snack Attack from 8 to 11 p.m. The Amenities Parking Lot will also be the site for the Inflatable Carnival Monday, Oct. 10 from 7 to 11 p.m. Students in the Student Government Association will officially assume their positions at the SGA President and Cabinet Inauguration in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Hall Gold Room Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Following the Inauguration, students can head to the James L. Bolden Campus Union Multi-Purpose Room for a night of poetry at the Love Jones Café event.
Put on your most comfortable pajamas and enjoy a night of fun Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the House Party Pajama Jammy Jam in the E. E. Simmons Gymnasium from 7 to 11 p.m. The next day, come out and watch Whitney Jackson, the 90th Miss Alcorn State University, receive her crown at Coronation Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex from 7 to 9 p.m. Alcornites will unite to cheer on the Braves football team at the “Bring It On” Pep Rally Friday, Oct. 14 at the Amenities Building Parking Lot from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Later that day, Greek organizations will pull out their best step routines at the NPHC Stomp the Yard Step Show in the E. E. Simmons Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Advanced tickets for the event are $15 and $20 at the door.
The annual Homecoming Parade around the campus loop, known as the horseshoe, will be Saturday, Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. Last but not least, the Braves will take the field for their Homecoming showdown against Texas Southern University at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium at 2 p.m.
Let’s make sure to “Pack the Jack” Saturday to support our Braves as they try to take down one of their SWAC West foes.
