SGA President Jeremy Martin and Dr. Voletta Williams honored at HEADWAE Conference
Alcorn State University Student Government Association President Jeremy Martin and Chair and Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Voletta Williams were honored for their exceptional performance in the classroom.
The Alcornites were honorees at the Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working For Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) Conference Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Jackson Marriot Hotel in Jackson, Mississippi. The conference is designed to celebrate students and faculty members who have made outstanding contributions in promoting academic excellence.
Jeremy appreciates being recognized for his commitment to academic excellence.
“It feels good to be celebrated for all of the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my journey as a biology major,” said Jeremy. “A lot of people don’t see the long nights and weekends of studying that goes into being a good college student.”
For Williams, being one of the program’s faculty honorees was an honor. She kindly thanks all of her supporters for nominating her for the achievement.
“I am more than grateful to have been nominated as the faculty honoree,” said Williams. “It was truly a once in a lifetime achievement, and I cherish the opportunity. I want to thank the administrators, faculty, staff and the students who played a great role in my nomination.”
