Alcorn Extension to Host Purple and Gold Awareness Day at the Downtown Natchez Farmers Market
Educational resources and tips will be offered at the Downtown Natchez Farmers Market.
The Alcorn Extension Program will be on hand promote a number of their programs from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Downtown Natchez Farmers Market located on the corner of Main and Commerce Streets, Natchez, MS.
“The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the citizens of Adams County and surrounding areas about the various programmatic areas and programs Alcorn State University Extension Program has to offer,” Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, interim assistant extension administrator said. “A different programmatic area will be highlighted every hour with demonstrations and educational tools.”
Information will be provided on agriculture, 4-H, family and consumer sciences, and health and wellness, Chukwuma added.
Each program area will provide educational resource tools. Participants will also have an opportunity to participate in fitness activities and take a photo using a healthy picture frame.
This is a collaborative effort between the Extension Program and the city of Downtown Natchez Farmers Market Committee to promote a healthy community and to encourage youth and adults to live healthier lifestyles. Eddie Burkes serves as committee chair and farmer’s market manager.
