Thurgood Marshall College Fund representative visits Alcorn State University
Alcorn State University’s junior class, along with the Honors and Pre-Professional Program, hosted the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Internship and Scholarship Informational Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Room 7 and 8.
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund representative Mr. Martin G. Martin II gave students information on scholarships, internships, fellowships and program opportunities that TMCF offers. Students were also able to ask questions and express themselves to Martin about opportunities they were interested in taking through TMCF. Alcorn’s Miss Junior, Moriah Batiest, explained why it was important to expose students to the opportunities given through TMCF.
“I felt it was important to make students aware of the different opportunities that are out there. I want students to be able to have the same experiences that I have had, and I know that there are people out there who want to help them and want them to succeed.”
Junior Class President Robert Tatum also explained why being a TMCF scholar is beneficial to students.
“Being a TMCF scholar will allow students to work in the field and get experience geared towards the career that they wish to pursue. In addition, they will provide opportunities to meet different people that can provide a diverse network, which can truly open many doors to the world.”
