STEM Experience Van visits Alcorn
On Saturday, Feb. 10 for the Military Appreciation basketball game against Mississippi Valley State, students from Alcorn State University and high schools toured the STEM Experience Van prior to the Women’s Basketball game. Inside of it were mini-games that teach mathematical and technical skills that apply to military training. The object of these games included participating in mock military missions using those skills to complete the mission. This was brought to Alcorn with hopes of luring students into different branches of the military and ROTC.
“Students in schools everywhere should get the chance to experience something as informative as the STEM van. It could be a valuable recruitment tool for STEM careers and ROTC admission,” said Greg Trotnic, ROTC recruiter for Alcorn.
A number of Alcorn’s ROTC students praised the van for its innovation and appeal to others students. They all agreed that acquiring new knowledge provided by the STEM Van has enhanced their experience in the University's ROTC program.
Trotnic plans to remain consistent with offering the STEM experience to more students in the future. For more information about the STEM Experience Van, contact Trotnic at (601) 877-6443 or [email protected].
