Cargill conducted a recruitment session with students in the School of Agriculture, Extension, Research and Applied Sciences on Thursday, March 4, 2016.

Representatives of the company, Kent Kruger, sales and marketing, and Rashad Hart, facility leader and an Alcorn alumnus, visited classrooms and spoke to students prior to presenting at the general session held in the Assembly Room of the Jesse A. Morris, Sr./W.C. Boykin Agricultural Building.

Students were told about the importance of being professional and having experience for future employers, as well as the need to attain resume writing and interviewing techniques.

“We want to increase Cargill brand awareness and continue our long-term partnership with Alcorn providing students with opportunities of internships and full-time employment,” Hart said. “Alcorn is a great resource pool to tap into.”

Three students were chosen for private interviews in hopes of being selected for internship positions summer 2016. Cargill visits Alcorn’s campus during the spring and fall semesters to recruit students to work for the company in operation and production management in the areas of exports, as well as sales and marketing. The presenters spoke on employment opportunities in those fields, and added that Cargill also offers many other positions in their 70 different locations.

Dr. Wesley L. Whittaker, professor and assistant dean of academics, said the School is pleased to see Cargill carrying on the tradition of recruiting students from Alcorn.

“Cargill seeks to give back to the University by providing opportunities to our students for internships or jobs with their company,” Whittaker added.
