Jonathan Weir co-authors research poster at Agricultural and Applied Economics Association Conference
Alcorn State University alumnus Jonathan Weir continues to make huge strides as a graduate student at Purdue University.
Weir co-authored the research poster titled, “Optimizing the Expansion of the Purdue Transportation Service Vehicular Fleet: The Case for Electric Vehicles,” during the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association Conference Sunday, July 30 through Tuesday, Aug. 1 in Chicago, Illinois.
The project utilized the university’s vehicular fleet transportation data, expansion goals, weighted trip distribution averages and the university’s carbon neutrality initiatives in a mathematical linear programming model to analyze the monetary cost and emission effects of electric vehicles.
Weir showed his appreciation to the Association for acknowledging the research. He also enjoyed learning from professional presenters at the conference.
“I was honored to be involved in a project that was selected by the Association for presentations,” said Weir. “It was an amazing experience that also gave me the additional benefit of listening to seminars and presentations by leading experts in the field of applied economics.”
Weir said that he enjoyed his experience, and hopes to present at next year’s conference in Washington D. C.
