Alcorn encourages funding, celebrate football team’s success at State Capitol

The Mississippi Legislature honored the Alcorn Braves football team and coaching staff for winning the 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship game and becoming National Black College Champions at Purple and Gold Day at the Mississippi State Capitol Building Feb. 10.

Alumni, employees and friends dressed in Alcorn purple and gold convened at the state capitol building to discuss the betterment of the university.

Legislators viewed a variety of exhibits highlighting Alcorn programs and research and enjoyed lunch in the rotunda.

The Alcorn State University National Alumni Association organized the day of advocacy to encourage lawmakers to continually support the mission and great work of Alcorn.
