Friday Forum celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Friday Forum, held at the Natchez Coffee Company on January 17, featured very special tributes to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. E’keria Williams, a student at Natchez High School, thrilled the crowd with her delivery of the “I Have A Dream” speech. Destiny Addae, another Natchez student, recited a moving composition and Ernest Fields IV sang “We Shall Overcome”. The talented performances by all three students received standing ovations.

Kathleen Jenkins, superintendent with the National Park Service in Natchez, shared the history of Natchez: From the Civil War to Civil Rights and Darryl White shared his thoughts with the group.

Friday Forum is provided through the partnership of Alcorn State University, Natchez Adams County Chamber of Commerce and Natchez Coffee and is open to the community each Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Natchez Coffee Company.

Other events in Natchez that took place in honor of Dr. King included a children’s luncheon and parade held on Monday, January 20.
