First Year Experience holds “You Are What You Tweet: Managing Your Online Presence” workshop
The Office of First Year Experience, Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management, recently hosted a “You Are What You Tweet: Managing Your Online Presence” workshop in the J.D. Boyd Library Auditorium.
Stanley Stephney, Black Board Support team member from the Center of Information Technology Services, was the presenter for the workshop.
Dr. Patricia White, director of the First Year Experience Program, stated, “Social networking sites are places for sharing information as it happens and for connecting with others in real time, often resulting in lasting friendships and contacts. As with any social networks, you should be wary of the information that you share with others and you should never use the sites to bully others.”
In an interview held after the workshop, Derrick Smith, a freshman from Vicksburg, Mississippi, shared, “The workshop was very informative. We learned what to do and what not to do on social networking sites. I have also learned that you should watch what you put on social networks because it can have some important implications in your life.”
